About the book
One night. No names. No expectations.
Just two strangers trying to forget—until the moment refuses to be forgotten.
Dr. Desmond Wilder has no time for chaos. As a single father and one of the most respected obstetricians at Saint Ambrose Memorial, every second of his life is calculated—especially now that he’s in line for Chief of Obstetrics. But everything shifts when he walks into his daughter’s summer program … and sees her.
Yara Sinclair never expected to see him again. Their one night together was supposed to mean nothing. He doesn’t even know her name. But now, he’s standing in the very school she built for children grieving the loss of a mother—exactly the kind of grief that shaped them both.
What begins as quiet distance turns into curiosity. And as walls slowly fall, they discover that maybe some moments are meant to find their way back—no matter how much time has passed.
Now Desmond has to decide if ambition is worth the cost of the one thing he swore he’d never open again—his heart.

Book Review
Whew, chile… I really enjoyed Yara and Desmond’s story. From the emotional tension to the full-circle connection rooted in shared grief, this novella delivered heart, healing, and romance in a way that pulls you in gently but holds on tight.
Now, I will say—there were moments where I wished for a bit more character and plot development, especially in certain emotional beats. At times, the writing leaned more toward telling instead of showing, which is my polite way of saying my literary coach spidey senses were tingling a little. But let me be clear—it didn’t snatch me out of the story. I was still invested in the journey, the stakes, and the chemistry between these two beautifully wounded souls.
The narrators did their BIG one, too. Their voices gave Desmond and Yara a pulse that made the emotional tension even richer. You could feel every unspoken word, every hesitation, every heartbeat between them.
Would I read another book by this author? Absolutely. Iesha Bree writes emotion well, and I’d be open to reading more of her work. I see the potential, and I love an author who makes me feel something—even when I want to slide them a Post-it note or two.
If you enjoy:
- Emotional novellas
- Second-chance romance
- Stories rooted in healing and shared grief
- A fine man in scrubs trying not to fall apart when love shows up…
Then baby, go ahead and give this one a listen (or a read).
